Are you already in care and want to transfer to our Institute? If you are already in care and want to transfer to our Institute, you can book using a FIRST INFECTIOUS DISEASE CONSULTATION referral (priority: scheduled without urgency), specifying to the operator that you need to be taken in charge by UOS Chronic Viral Immunodeficiencies (APC Immuno)
The appointment can be scheduled:
• At the CUP counter on the ground floor of the Central Institute (open Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.);
• At the CUP counter in the Di Raimondo Pavilion (open Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.),
• or e-mailing at prenotazioni.spallanzani@inmi.it.
If the appointment is not compatible with your needs, leave your contact information and you will be called back as soon as possible. For this purpose, it is essential to verify your therapy availability to ensure you do not run out of medication.
If you are already on therapy but do not yet have a medical record at Spallanzani, ask your doctor for a prescription for a “first infectious disease consultation” and schedule your appointment at the counters or via email. If your medication supply is running low, notify us immediately. If you have previously been in care at Spallanzani but transferred temporarily to another hospital and now need to return, you can follow the same procedure.
• Identity document
• Health Card. If you do not have one, bring any available documents (e.g., passport or foreign ID cards): we will help you request an STP/ENI code to enable consultations and tests.
• Previous medical reports and discharge letters, if available.
• Details of the center where you were previously treated (name, city, contact information), so we can retrieve your clinical documentation.
• An updated list of all medications you are taking, including supplements and over-the-counter products, and any known allergies.
• An active phone number or an e-mail address for receiving communications.
• Opening or updating of your medical record and collection of your care history.
• We will ask for your consent to contact your previous center and obtain reports, tests, and treatment plans.
• We review your current therapy, any adverse effects or interactions, and plan the necessary blood tests.
• If your medication supply is low, we arrange a bridge supply until your next consultation.
• If specific needs arise, we may involve other specialists.
• Collect medications from the in-house pharmacy (if necessary).
• Schedule your next tests and follow-up consultation immediately.
• Keep your phone and email active: we may contact you when documents arrive from your previous center or if therapy adjustments are needed.
• Take your therapy as prescribed. If new symptoms appear or you have any concerns, contact us immediately—do not wait for your next appointment.
• Do not start new medications or supplements without informing us, as some substances may interfere with your therapy.
• If you change your residence or local health authority (ASL), inform us: we will help you update exemptions and administrative certifications to avoid interruptions in care.

⚠️ ATTENTION: If you do not have a health insurance card you will have to go with a valid identification document to the CUP for the issuance or renewal of theSTP/ENI and sign, if you meet the requirements, the certificate of indigence, which must be renewed every 6 months, like the STP/ENI. Important note on consent to care and participation in research studies
Upon your arrival at Spallanzani you will be asked to sign a document regarding consent to care. It is possible that during a medical visit you will be asked to also sign further consents for participation in clinical and research studies.
Spallanzani, as a Research Institute, participates in numerous clinical studies.
Your possible support is precious to improve care pathways and contribute to the progress of HIV research.
Participation in studies is always voluntary, free, and independent from the care pathway. The Doctor will explain to you in a clear and simple way the contents of the proposed study, which is always approved by the Ethics Committee, guarantees privacy according to current regulations, and from which you can withdraw at any time.
Don’t worry: we’ll take all the time necessary and explain every step to you.
Have your blood tests about 7 days beforehand (book at the counters or by email; follow instructions if fasting is required):
This visit is repeated at 3 months, at 6 months, and then every 6 months thereafter, following the same structure.
This visit is repeated every 6 months at a different facility.
Ask your doctor for a referral for a “first infectious disease visit” and book at the counters or by email.
Please contact the information desk: The Nursing Staff will assess the situation and, if necessary, help you schedule an appointment for a medical consultation.
You can access them through the Electronic Health Record (if you have SPID or CIE), or by using the link provided by the CUP staff when you undergo the blood draw.
Please email prenotazioni.spallanzani@inmi.it no later than two days before the scheduled date to reschedule the appointment.
Many procedures can be performed at our hospital. However, some must be scheduled through the Regional CUP number at 069939.
